Goodness

Living in the world of perplexity, we might often get thrown off balance. In this day and age, we might have to be adherents of others, complying with their demands and conditions. At different stages, feeling that our character becomes defined involuntarily.

The stories of our Lord are meant to be told by living and not through words.

As Christians, we believe that our true characters given by God would finally show when we find our place in his story. When we stay true to our nature as God’s creation, we will proclaim our stories of goodness and peace in our daily lives, and thus inspire others to come close. This is the reason why we as Christians are eager to bear witness, to welcome strangers, so that everyone could enjoy the peace from the Lord at last. The stories of our Lord are meant to be told by living and not through words.

If we do not live in goodness and peace. We are not pledging to our Lord Jesus Christ but rather power under our own control.

When we witness carelessness and violence in the world, it reflects only the carelessness and violence in the lives of man. Hence our Redeemer and his disciples are tirelessly calling his followers to seek goodness from within and among themselves. If we only speak about longing for goodness and peace, yet we do not live in goodness and peace. We are not pledging to our Lord Jesus Christ but rather power under our own control. It is because we want to protect what we have, we then act carelessly and violently toward others.

“Goodness is deeper than the deepest evil. However radical evil may be, it is not as deep as goodness.”

Good hearts allow us to attend to the most needy people, those who live in distress, and the sufferings of the disadvantaged. Paul Ricoeur, a French philosopher and frequent visitor to Taizé once said, “Goodness is deeper than the deepest evil. However radical evil may be, it is not as deep as goodness.” The Lord only needs one little spark of goodness in our hearts to ignite the spiritual fire and direct us forward.

“Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is *good for each other and for everyone else.” 1 Thessalonians 5:15

*Good means to help others in the name of Christ, to be zealous, to be kind to others unconditionally without expecting anything in return, to think in line with good moral standards, to pursue righteousness, and to serve others and the Lord.

Lord have mercy on us.
